Science — Class 10 is the Class X NCERT for chemistry, biology and physics. The printed book (Reprint 2026-27; Revised Edition October 2022) has 13 chapters, and these notes follow it chapter by chapter for Prelims science and the science, technology and environment parts of GS3.

  • Chemistry: 1. Chemical Reactions and Equations; 2. Acids, Bases and Salts; 3. Metals and Non-metals; 4. Carbon and its Compounds.
  • Biology: 5. Life Processes; 6. Control and Coordination; 7. How do Organisms Reproduce?; 8. Heredity.
  • Physics: 9. Light – Reflection and Refraction; 10. The Human Eye and the Colourful World; 11. Electricity; 12. Magnetic Effects of Electric Current.
  • Environment: 13. Our Environment.

The site pages keep the numbering of the 16-chapter 2020-21 edition, so a page's number can differ from the chapter's number in the current book; each page says which chapter it is now. Three chapters of the 2020-21 edition, Periodic Classification of Elements, Sources of Energy and Sustainable Management of Natural Resources, were dropped in NCERT's 2022 rationalisation. Their pages are kept and marked as dropped chapters, because their concepts still come up in UPSC questions on the periodic table, energy and natural resources. Where a chapter that remains lost a part, such as the evolution half of Heredity and Evolution or the electric motor, electromagnetic induction and the generator from Magnetic Effects of Electric Current, the page teaches that part from the 2020-21 edition under a clearly labelled heading.

Each page sets out NCERT's text first, works its examples and exercises, marks the lines in NCERT that need care, and dates every figure from outside the book.
